She met Jane Lynch at a fundraiser in San Francisco in 2009 and they got married the following year in Massachusetts – one of the states that permits same-sex marriage.

Biographical Information

Lara Embry is an American clinical psychologist, director, producer and actress. Additionally, she holds the certification of Parenting Coordinator and has actively participated in campaigns for LGBTQ rights.

Lara is a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts and Columbia University. She holds a master’s degree in philosophy from Columbia and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Washington Seattle.

She is a renowned psychologist with research interests in psychobiology, family psychology, youth homelessness and resilience. She has published numerous articles related to these fields of study.

Jane Lynch, best known for her role on the Fox musical comedy series ‘Glee’, has been in a long-term relationship with actor Embry. They met in May 2009 at an event in San Francisco and got engaged the following year at Blue Heron Restaurant in Sunderland, Massachusetts. Together they had two children – Haden Embry and Chase Embry – but unfortunately their marriage ended in divorce.

Education

She was the first in her family to attend college, earning both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Southern California. Additionally, she holds an Ed.D from the University of California at Los Angeles.

She has been teaching in West Hartford public schools since 2007, with her current position at Hall High School where she teaches language arts and social studies.

To this end, she has developed and implemented several professional development programs and workshops on culturally responsive practices, diversity, gender identity/sexuality, social justice issues and sexual violence prevention.

These include Asian Pacific American Student Services, Center for Black Cultural and Student Affairs, First Generation Plus Success Center, Latinx/Chicacanx Center for Advocacy & Student Affairs, LGBTQ+ Student Center and Student Basic Needs Center.
