Becki Newton is an actress best known for her role as Amanda Tanen on Ugly Betty.
Her acting career began in local theaters and musicals of her hometown of Guilford, Connecticut. Later she relocated to New York City and found success on television shows.

She began performing in local productions and summer stock theater at the tender age of thirteen.
After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, she relocated to New York City in order to pursue an acting career. She appeared in numerous national commercials and guest starred on Cold Case (2003), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999) and American Dreams (2002) before landing the role of Amanda Tanen on Ugly Betty (2006).

2. She Moved to New York City to Pursue an Acting Career
Becki, originally from Guilford, Connecticut, discovered her passion for acting at a young age and started performing in school productions and summer stock theater at 13 years old. After studying European history at the University of Pennsylvania, she relocated to New York City with the aim of pursuing an acting career.
After working on several projects, she achieved success in 2006 when she was cast as Amanda Tanen on the hit show Ugly Betty. She remained with the show for four years before it was cancelled.
She then appeared in several more television shows such as American Dreams, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and Charmed. Moreover, she enjoyed a successful voice-over career that saw her provide voices to numerous characters on American Dad.
After spending a decade on TV, she chose to take on a more dramatic role with her latest project The Lincoln Lawyer which will be available on Netflix in 2022. She stars as Lorna, Haller’s witty second ex-wife who helps him run his day-to-day activities while also aiding him with his biggest case ever: defending a tech guru accused of murdering both his wife and lover.

Becki Newton, born in Guilford, Connecticut and now living in Philadelphia, began performing professionally at age 13 – both local productions and summer stock theater. Married to Canadian-Greek actor Chris Diamantopoulos since 2010, they share two children together – a son (born November 2010) and daughter (born early 2014).
