Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have shared many milestones together over their decade-long marriage, from costars to spouses to coparenting experts. Through it all, the couple has shared many cherished moments together.

Since their split in 2017, Garner has remained by Affleck’s side and helped him through his addiction issues. But the actress is not pleased with Affleck’s comments about their marriage to Howard Stern this week.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, both former Hollywood stars, have had to balance work and parenting. After marrying in June 2005, the couple has three children together – daughters Violet Anne and Seraphina Rose Elizabeth; plus son Samuel Garner Affleck.

Both actors had struggled financially while portraying comic book superheroes, but Affleck was able to rebound and rebuild his career with a media-friendly comeback. He had the advantage of being in a better position than Garner since she had to balance family responsibilities along with an acting career.

After Daredevil and Elektra, she was only able to land one more mainstream studio lead role before her big-screen career stalled out. It wasn’t until after her divorce from Affleck in 2018 that she began relaunching her movie career again.

Marriage

Garner and Affleck had one of Hollywood’s longest-running love stories. The director and 13 Going On 30 actress began dating in 2001, got engaged six months later, and welcomed twin daughters Violet and Seraphina into their union.

Affleck and Garner had a joyous marriage, enjoying travel together and spending quality time with their children. Even after divorcing in 2015, they visited a family counseling center for the first time since 2015.

In 2017, Jennifer Garner assisted her ex-husband in getting sober by staging an intervention and driving him to rehab. Additionally, she spent 40 days working with him to conquer his alcohol dependence.

After 10 years of marriage, the couple divorced in 2018. As parents to three children — Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel — who have now grown up together as part of a blended family unit, the former couple ultimately parted ways in 2018.

Divorce

After 10 years of marriage, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck finally filed for divorce in June 2015, seeking joint legal and physical custody of their three children.

Many were taken aback by the news, particularly after it seemed like they’d settled their split amicably. Despite their split, Garner and Affleck continued to live together, vacation together and co-parent their children.

Jennifer Garner gave her first major interview since announcing their divorce plans, in which she discussed her relationship with Ben Affleck and how they are handling separation. Throughout the conversation, Jennifer reflected on how even when their marriage ended there was still love and respect between the two of them.

Garner appears to be doing her best to ensure her children continue to experience loving relationships filled with respect and affection. Doing this could help them avoid some of the more intense emotions related to divorce such as anger or betrayal.

Children

Garner and Affleck have maintained a close friendship even after their divorce, and they happily co-parent their three children together.

Two months after filing for divorce, Affleck and Garner were seen smiling as they left a family counseling center in Los Angeles. Two months after taking their three children on vacation to the Caribbean, the former couple returned to L.A.

Their oldest daughter, Violet, is almost 16 years old and has always been a loyal and devout member of the family. A source previously informed Page Six that Violet missed Ben and Jennifer Lopez’s wedding last month due to her strong bond with her mother.

Their youngest son, Samuel, is close to both parents and an avid sports fan. The family has been seen together at swim practice and local pools. Unfortunately, Ben Affleck, the youngster’s father, has battled alcoholism and had to go to rehab in 2018.
